Chimney Repair

Safe, watertight chimneys built to last

Leaning stacks, cracked flaunching, loose pots and failed flashing repaired properly to stop leaks and keep your chimney safe.

Overview

Chimney Repair with GAC Roofline

Your chimney takes more punishment from the weather than almost any other part of your home. It stands proud of the roofline, catching wind, driving rain and frost from every direction, and because it's rarely seen up close, small problems are easy to miss until water starts appearing on a ceiling or chimney breast.

Our chimney repair service covers everything from replacing a single cracked pot to rebuilding an unstable stack from the roofline up. We re-bed pots, renew cement flaunching, replace lead flashings and soakers, repoint tired mortar joints and fit cowls or caps to keep birds and rain out of disused flues.

Every repair starts with an honest assessment. We'll show you photographs of what we find, explain what needs doing now and what can wait, and give you a clear written quote before any work begins.

FAQs

Chimney Repair FAQs

Straight answers to the questions we're asked most often. Can't find what you're looking for? Just give us a call.

Do I need scaffolding for chimney repairs?

For most chimney work, yes. Safe access is essential and often a small chimney scaffold is all that's required. We arrange this for you and include the cost in your quote.

Can you remove a chimney I no longer use?

Yes. We can take a redundant stack down below the roofline and tile or slate over the gap so it blends in with the rest of the roof. We'll advise if any structural or building control considerations apply.

How long does chimney repair take?

Straightforward repairs such as re-flaunching or new flashing are usually completed in a day once access is up. Rebuilds can take two to four days depending on the size of the stack and the weather.

Why is my chimney leaking when it looks fine?

Most chimney leaks come from failed flashing, porous brickwork or an uncapped flue rather than obvious visible damage. A close-up inspection usually finds the cause quickly.
