Flat Roofing

Durable flat roofs with modern materials

Modern flat roofs for extensions, garages and dormers, including EPDM rubber, GRP fibreglass and torch-on felt systems.

Overview

Flat Roofing with GAC Roofline

Flat roofs have come a long way. Old-style felt roofs that blistered and leaked after a handful of winters have been replaced by modern systems that are far tougher, fully watertight and designed to last for decades with minimal maintenance.

We install and repair flat roofs on extensions, garages, dormers, porches, bay windows and commercial buildings. We'll recommend the right system for your building, whether that's a single-piece EPDM rubber membrane, a seamless GRP fibreglass finish or a multi-layer torch-on felt system.

A good flat roof starts beneath the surface. We check the timber deck, improve falls so water drains properly, and can add insulation to bring older roofs up to current thermal standards. We finish with neat trims, drip edges and outlets so the roof looks as good as it performs.

FAQs

Flat Roofing FAQs

Straight answers to the questions we're asked most often. Can't find what you're looking for? Just give us a call.

Which flat roof system is best?

It depends on the roof. EPDM is excellent for simple shapes and has a long lifespan, GRP suits roofs that will be walked on and needs no joints, and felt is a proven, cost-effective option. We'll recommend what fits your building and budget.

How long does a new flat roof take?

Most domestic flat roofs such as garages and single-storey extensions are completed in one to three days, weather permitting.

Can a flat roof be repaired rather than replaced?

Often, yes. Localised splits and failed joints can be repaired. If the deck is rotten or the covering has failed in multiple places, replacement is usually better value.

Can you add insulation to my flat roof?

Yes. When we replace a flat roof we can install a warm-roof insulation system, which makes the room below more comfortable and reduces heat loss.
